Privacy Policy
This page explains what data Double Alpha and its server collect, why, where it is stored and how to have it deleted. It describes only what the game actually does.
Who is responsible
UTC+2 Studio, the developer of Double Alpha. Questions about your data and deletion requests: [email protected].
What we collect
Steam account. When you sign in, the game sends a Steam authentication ticket to the server. The server verifies it with Valve and stores:
- your Steam ID;
- your Steam profile name - refreshed on every sign-in and shown on leaderboards;
- the date of your first sign-in.
If Steam does not return a profile name, your Steam ID is shown on leaderboards instead.
Session. After sign-in the server issues a session token. Only its hash and its expiry time (24 hours) are stored.
Stage results. After every stage run the game sends its log:
- the stage, chosen weapon, ammunition and zero distance;
- the time of every shot, reload and key stage event;
- for every shot - shooter and muzzle position on the range, muzzle direction, stance and hit points;
- the run status: completed, did not finish or disqualified.
The server stores this log, the calculated score, automatic fair-play check flags and the time the run was received.
What we do not collect
- Your real name, email address or phone number.
- Payment details: purchases are handled entirely by Steam.
- Information about your device, other programs or files on your computer.
- Advertising, advertising identifiers or third-party analytics, in the game or on the website.
The website does not set cookies of its own.
IP address
The server sees the IP address of each request and uses it only in memory to rate-limit requests. It is not written to the database or to server logs.
Why
- Signing in through Steam and crediting results to your account.
- Global stage leaderboards.
- Fair-play checks: the server recalculates the score from the log and quarantines results that fail its checks, keeping them off the leaderboards.
The online part of the game cannot work without this data.
What other players see
Leaderboards show your Steam profile name and your run result: hit factor, time, hits by zone, misses and penalties. Shot logs, Steam IDs and fair-play flags are not shown to other players.
Where data is stored
The server and the database run on Amazon Web Services. Requests to the server and the website pass through Cloudflare. Steam achievements and statistics are stored by Valve and governed by the Steam Privacy Policy.
How long
Results are kept for as long as the leaderboards operate, or until you ask for deletion.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account together with all its results. Write to [email protected] and include your Steam ID or a link to your Steam profile. The name on leaderboards is changed in your Steam profile and is updated the next time you sign in to the game.
Changes
If the game starts collecting other data, this page will be updated before the game is. The date of the current version is at the top of the page.
